Welcome to Cascade Martial Arts Academy!

Cascade Martial Arts Academy is a chartered dojo of the Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Matsumura-Seito Karate and Kobudo Federation (OSMKKF) in Everett, undefined. We teach the traditional Okinawan martial arts of Matsumura Shorin Ryu, which is used for practical self-defense and reality-based fighting.

Our Mission

We strive to not only cultivate great martial artists but we believe the first line of defense is strong character with integrity, humility and confidence. We achieve this by mutual respect, discipline and dedicated physical training and conditioning.

What we do

Although we focus on Okinawan Karate, we have a more integrated approach, allowing for techniques to be used in the real world. All classes are overseen by Sensei Tim Amey, certified Karate and Kobudo Instructor, as well as other certified instructors

Okinawan Karate (沖縄空手)

When literally translated, this is the Way Of The Empty Hand. Karate training is one of the three main pillars of the core curriculum covering a wide range of training exercises and methods. Students will spend time in solo drills, partner drills, and free sparring to be able to apply techniques under pressure.

Okinawan Kobudo (沖縄古武道)

The traditional Okinawan art of fighting with weapons that could be disguised as everyday tools! This includes the Bo (6-ft wooden staff), Sai (metal truncheon), Kama (hand sickle), Tunfa (mill handle, PR24), Nunchaku (flail), Tekko (stirrup), Ekku (boat oar) and other lesser-known weapons such as the Rokushakukama and Nunti-bo. Our style of Kobudo is integral to the empty hand art mentioned above and has a history going back 600 years

Okinawan Tuite-jutsu (沖縄取手術)

The grappling art of traditional Okinawan martial arts combined with the wrestling art of Tegumi, and is the third pillar of the core curriculum at NW Kenshinkan Karate Club. Tuite, as it is practiced at EKKC, is focused on joint locks and manipulations in order to gain control of an opponent. Tuite techniques can be used for self-defense against much larger, stronger opponents, and can even be used to bring a suspect under control without combat (a critical skill for Law Enforcement and Military Police assets).
